Ingredients List:

  • 8 oz Dried Peach Halves
  • 1/4 Cup Sugar
  • Whole Cinnamon Stick
  • Orange Peel
  • 5 Cups Water
  • 1 Cup Pearled Wheat, Cooked

Preparation:

Soak dried peaches, orange peel, and cinnamon stick in a bowl overnight in 2 1/2 cups of water.

Pour sugar and 2 tablespoons of water into a large heavy pot, and cook over medium heat, moving pan frequently but not stirring until the sugar melts. Once an even brown color appears, remove from heat.

Slowly add one cup of the soaking water from the peaches to the pot. Stir over medium heat until the caramel has dissolved. Add the remaining soaking water, peaches, orange peel and cinnamon stick. Return to a simmer and cook until tender, about 30 minutes.

Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature, then chill in refrigerator until cold. Add 2 to 3 tablespoons of cooked wheat to the bottom of a tall glass. Pour cooled peachy liquid over the wheat and add peaches to top.
