Medianoche Recipe | Receta Medianoche

The Medianoche Sandwich is very similar to the Cuban Sandwich.

With the main difference being the bread it is served on. Medianoche means midnight in spanish.

It received this name because of the sandwich's popularity in night clubs in Havana, Cuba.

Like the Cuban Sandwich, the Medianoche also uses a panini press to flatten it.

Ingredients List:

  • 6 Medianoche or Brioche Rolls
  • 5 TBSP Unsalted Butter, Softened
  • Yellow Mustard
  • Mayonaise
  • 12 Slices Swiss Cheese, Sliced Thin
  • 1 lb Deli Ham, Sliced Thin
  • 1 lb Pork, Thinly Sliced

Preparation:

Split the sandwich rolls in half, making sure to not cut the whole way through. Spread mustard and mayonnaise onto the cut sides.

On each sandwich, place equal amounts of Swiss cheese, ham and pork. Place a few pickles onto each one, and put the top of the roll onto the sandwich. Close the buns and spread the butter on the outside of both the top and bottom.

Place the sandwiches in a heated panini press and close. Press until golden-brown on both sides, about 5 minutes.

Slice diagonally and serve hot.
