Humitas can be found throughout Latin America. The addition of cheese is the biggest difference of Argentinian Humitas from the others.

Humitas recipes are dated back from pre-Hispanic times and its origins are unknown.

However, we do know this is a delicious Argentinian dish, try it and taste for yourself!

Ingredients List:

  • 6 Ears of Corn
  • 1 TBSP Olive Oil
  • 1 Small Onion Chopped
  • 10 oz Pumpkin, Chopped
  • 1 Small Tomato, Chopped
  • 1/2 tsp Paprika
  • Pinch Red Hot Pepper
  • Pinch Cumin
  • 1 Cup Milk
  • 1 Cup Cremoso Argentino Cheese

Preparation:

Remove kernels from the cob and set aside.

Sauté the onion and garlic in oil until translucent, about 3 minutes. Then add the pumpkin and tomatoes and season with salt, pepper, paprika and cumin. Add water until ingredients are just covered.

Simmer until creamy, about 20 minutes.

Add the corn and milk, and cook for 5 minutes more.

Serve sprinkled with cheese, sweet paprika and some chopped basil leaves.
