Ingredients List:

  • 1 Cup Flour
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • Vegetable Oil for Frying
  • 1/4 Cup Sugar

Preparation:

Add water and salt to a sauce pan and bring to a boil over high heat.

Stir in the flour and mix vigorously with a wooden spoon until a sticky dough forms. Transfer the dough onto a flat surface and let cool for about a minute, then lightly knead the dough for 1-2 minutes until you form a compact dough.

Transfer the dough into a churrera or piping bag.

Heat about 2 inches of oil in a heavy, high-sided pot over medium-high heat until the oil reaches 360°F.

Squeeze a 5" strip of dough into the hot oil. Repeat, frying 3 or 4 strips at a time. Fry the churros until golden brown, turn them occasionally, about 2 minutes per side. Transfer the cooked churros to a plate lined with paper towels.

When cool enough to touch, roll the churros in sugar.
